Richard L. Lash

Lash, Richard L., 74, passed away at his home on February 24, 2012 with his loving family at his side. Memorial Mass, 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 29, St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 645 N. 119th St. W., Wichita, KS. Richard was born July 25, 1937 in Vicksburg, Michigan. He moved to Liberal, Kansas in 1955 and was employed at Tradewind Industries for 30 years and then worked part time for Abbott Construction. He married Betty Doerfler in Liberal on November 25, 1958 and they were married for 53 wonderful years. They moved to Maize, KS, after retirement in 2003 to be near their children. Richard was an avid fisherman and he loved to go fishing with his wife and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Cleon and Irene Lash; mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Bill Scarlett; two brothers, Dale Lash and Lloyd Siscoe. Survivors: his wife, Betty; one daughter, Mona (Dennis) Holder; three sons, Bill (Mattie) Lash of Vicksburg, MI, Mark (Tangela) Lash of Jacksonville, FL, John (Julie) Lash of Wichita, KS; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Heartland Hospice, 3210 W. Kellogg, Wichita, KS 67213. Downing Lahey West.

To Betty Lash and Family, I was so sorry to read in the Liberal paper that Dick had passed away. I worked with Dick at Tradewinds for years and we were friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Richard Lash. My family will always remember Richard, Betty and their family when they lived in Liberal. I remember having them as neighbors at one time and special friendships with their children.
