Lawson, Curtis F., 80, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011. In his final days, he was surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Freda LaVerne. Other survivors include his daughter, Linda Courtney, and husband, John; son, Kent Lawson, and wife, Judy; son, Dennis Lawson, and wife, Julie, all of Wichita; son, Danny Lawson of Goddard; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the entire staff at the Cheney Golden Age Home, where Curtis spent the last three years of his life, for their wonderful and compassionate care, and also to Hospice Care of Kansas for providing tremendous comfort to him and his family. Curtis served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He was a very organized chef retiring with over 25 years in civil service with the Air Force, and he continued working at multiple restaurants around Wichita including many years at the Moose Lodge and Midian Shrine Temple. He enjoyed buying and selling cars, traveling, gardening and feeding the birds. He was a dedicated member for many years at Westside church of Christ.
