Velma Irene Christy Newlin Collins

Collins, Velma Irene Christy Newlin, 93, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012. Funeral service is 10:30 am Tuesday at Southwest Presbyterian Church of Wichita followed by a 2:30 pm graveside service at the Maplewood Memorial Lawn in Emporia, KS. She was a charter member of Gem and Mineral Society. She and her second husband James, enjoyed square dancing with the Westside Steppers and Camping Squares. Velma also enjoyed making quilts for all of her grand and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband Clarence Newlin, second husband James Collins and a son Forrest A. Newlin. Survivors include her children Nelda (Howard W.) Ellington, of Wichita, Alfred (Jean) Newlin of Marysville, KS, Terry (Janet) Newlin of Wichita; daughter-in-law, Margaret Charlene Newlin, Ft. Worth, TX; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
