Straughen, Joyce E. (Pruitt), 54, former Boeing engineering assistant, teacher, Meals on Wheels and Pet Rescue volunteer, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007. Joyces husband and family invite friends and co-workers to an Open House at Exploration Place Terrace, on Friday, October 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. Preceded in death by her father, Haynes Pruitt. Survivors: husband, Michael of Wichita; mother, Eileen Pruitt of Wichita; brother, Larry (Jonene) Pruitt of Houston, TX; sister, Kathleen (John) Slaymaker of Wichita; nieces and nephews, Amy Slaymaker, David Slaymaker, Jon Pruitt, Kelley Morrison; great nieces and nephew; good friends and her beloved pets. Memorials have been established with Wichita Childrens Home, 810 North Holyoke, Wichita, KS 67203 and Kansas Humane Society, 4218 Southeast Boulevard, Wichita, KS 67210.

I was so sorry to read of Joyce’s death. We went to high school and Joyce was always so full of energy and showed such leadership. Again, I’m sure this is a great loss to your family and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
