Vernon L. Lieurance

Lieurance, Vernon L., 74, former contractor and real estate investor, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2008. Visitation with the family will be 5:00-7:00 P.M., Friday with service at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, both at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Graveside service will follow in Alva, OK. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Violet, step-father, John Bailey and son, Darin. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lana of Wichita, son and daughter-in-law, Monty and Sharon of Edmond, OK, daughter and son-in-law, Shanna and Jim Hanson of Lees Summit, MO, grandchildren, Billy, Bryan, Ashleigh, James and Austin, sister, Lavonne Hutchison and niece, Vicki, nephew, Robert. Vernon L. Lieurance was born September 10, 1933 To Cecil and Violet Lieurance, in Alva, OK. Vern attended Oklahoma A M College in Stillwater, OK. He graduated with a degree in Agriculture and with a 2nd Lieutenant commission in the Army Signal Corp. He entered the Army October 2, 1954 and served in the 440th Signal Aviation Construction Battalion in Korea. Upon his release from the Army in 1956, he made his home in Wichita. After moving to Wichita he was Manager of Century Loan Company. Then he was a Real Estate Loan Officer for Amortibanc and later became Vice President of American Savings Association. In 1966 Vern started his own real estate sales and construction companies. He then joined with a partner, Gilbert Boettcher and started Boettcher and Lieurance Construction Company. They built around 200 commercial buildings in and around Wichita and they built around 300 houses. They also had a manufacturing plant which panelized about 1000 Pizza Huts that they shipped to 48 states in the US. Mr. Lieurance was an industrious real estate investor, in the Wichita Area, during the past 50 plus years. He was a member of the Albert Pike Masonic Lodge #303, the Scottish Rite of Wichita, Midian Shrine Center and an avid member of the Midian Motor Patrol. In lieu of flowers, Vern designated memorials to Shrine Plane of Mercy, 130 N. Topeka, Wichita, KS, 67202 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202.
Visitation with the family will be 5:00-7:00 P.M., Friday at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Graveside service 2:30 P.M., Saturday in Alva, OK.
I just wanted the family to know how much that Vern meant to my dad and to me, his youngest daughter. My dad’s dreams were realized as he worked with Vern to achieve financial success and many lives were enriched by having known this man. God bless.
