Galen A. Garrity

Garrity, Galen A., 84, died Monday, March 06, 2006. Rosary 7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 9, and Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 10, both at All Saints Catholic Church. He was born on July 13, 1921 to John and Elizabeth Krieg Garrity in Topeka, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Sylvia Meyer at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wichita on March 4, 1943. Galen served in the 8th Air Force Division from 1943-1945 and flew missions over Germany during World War II in a B17. He worked for Boeing Aircraft of Wichita following the war for 22 years. In 1988, he retired as the Data Base Administrator for the Wichita Public School System after 17 years of service. Galen was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Garrity. He is survived by his wife of the home, Sylvia and a son, Reverend G. Patrick Garrity of Morristown, Tennessee. Also he leaves to cherish his memory, two sisters, Lillian Garrity and Marie Garrity of Topeka, Kansas, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Galen was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church of Wichita and the VFW. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. The best stories he related involved his hunting and fishing adventures, his trips and practical jokes. Galens love and humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
