Charlene A. Stilwell

Charlene A. Stilwell, 77, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Charlene was born December 24, 1938, in Belle Plaine, Kansas, in the home of her grandmother. She grew up in Belle Plaine where she graduated high school in 1956 and met her future husband, Bill Stilwell, one of her classmates. On June 20, 1958, she married Bill, and they recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. After attending the Wichita Business School, she worked for a variety of local companies. It was at the City of El Dorado and later for PEC in Wichita that she found her calling of working with engineers in administration. Another love was traveling. She had visited most of the continental U.S., Australia, Europe and Russia. She recently completed a cruise across the Atlantic from Florida to Italy. Survivors include husband Bill; daughter, Julie Bishop of Bentonville, AR; son, Jay Stilwell of Seattle, WA; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and sister, Jeanette Baum (Gareth) of Wichita. Charlene was preceded in death by parents, Faye and Duane Waugh. Her memorial service will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 14 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
