John L. Blumberg

Blumberg, John L., 83, passed on to heaven on June 21, 2014. His wife of 57 years, Marcia, and his family were at his side. Born July 31, 1930 in a farmhouse near Denison, KS, John was the eldest of Pat and Mateel Blumbergs three sons. John served his country in the US Navy from 1950-54 and upon his return from Korea, attended the University of Kansas on the GI Bill. He graduated from KU in 1956 and accepted a job with Internal Revenue Service. In February of 1957 he married the love of his life, Marcia Droegemueller. John retired as a Senior Agent after a 30-year career with the Internal Revenue Service. John is survived by his wife, Marcia, and the families of their three children; eldest son, Brian (Lorette) Blumberg of Kechi and grandsons, Josh (Ariana) Evans (great-granddaughters, Regan, Ale, and Kylee) of Austin, TX, and Brandon of Kechi; middle son, Vince Blumberg of Savannah, GA and grandson, Connor of Lakewood, CO; daughter, Shelley (Heath) Bradbury and grandson, John, and granddaughter, Jordan, of Wichita. He is also survived by his brothers, Rex Blumberg of Henderson, NC and Dr. Larry (Sherry) Blumberg of Henderson, NV. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are established with Holy Cross Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, or to Lutheran Braille Workers c/o Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 N. Greenwich Rd., Wichita, KS 67206.
