Grinnell, Opal, 102, retired teacher, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009. Graveside service, 1:30 P.M., Friday, October 16, Americus (KS) Township Cemetery. Preceded in death by husband, Harold “Brownie†Grinnell. Survivors: niece and caregiver, Judith Humbargar, and other nieces and nephews. Memorial established with Americus United Methodist Church, 413 Walnut, Americus, KS 66835. Downing Lahey Mortuary West.

Mrs. Grinnell was my high school accounting teacher. She got me interested in accounting and helped me to get a scholarship to college. I ended up as a CPA and owe this to her. She certainly positively influenced my life and I am certain the lives of many others.
