Beck, Joseph Francis, 94, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 in Wichita, KS. Joe was born October 29, 1920 in Gray County Kansas to Anna Marlena (Goeken) and William Martin Beck, Sr. He graduated in 1937 from Copeland High School in Copeland, KS. In WWII Joe served in the 11th Armored Division at the Battle of the Bulge. He married Esther Twila Frye in Hutchinson, KS on September 21, 1952. Joe farmed west of Dodge City, worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, and managed the Park Putt miniature golf course at Wright Park in Dodge City, KS. He is survived by his wife Twila of Wichita, KS three daughters and spouses: Saundra and Steve Rogers of Wichita, KS Barbara and Dave Childers of Oskaloosa, IA Shirley and Phil Newlin of Wichita, KS six grandchildren: Alyssa Rogers (Derek Tucker) of Mission, KS Joshua (Emily) Childers of Olathe, KS Amanda (Taylor) McMillin of Wichita, KS Julie Childers of Overland Park, KS Eric (Leslie) Newlin of Olathe, KS Andrew Newlin of Wichita, KS and two great grandchildren: Brooks and Camille Childers of Olathe KS. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Fannie Denney and William Beck, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene Childrens Ministry, Wichita, KS. The service will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Wichita First Church of the Nazarene. Interment will be at Kechi Cemetery, Kechi, KS. Downing and Lahey Mortuary East.
