Dwight L. "Bud" Oppliger

Dwight L. “Bud” Oppliger 92, passed away October 12, 2015. He served in WWII as a radio operator in the Air Force. After his service he graduated from the University of Missouri and had a successful, respected career as a trust officer with Bank IV. He also owned and operated Thunderbird Bowl with his wife, Nadine, for 41 years. He loved baseball, bowling, golf, and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He was our biggest fan. He touched so many lives in his humble, caring way and left something lasting and good in everyone he touched. His integrity was absolute. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Nellie Oppliger; and his wife of 60 years, Nadine. He is survived by his sister, Dixie Hopple; brothers, Larry and Don Oppliger; aunt, Wilma Demuth; children, Terry (Jan) Oppliger, Debbie (Norm) Christiansen, Jodi (Brent) Bartman; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, October 16, at Mt. Vernon Methodist Church, 5701 E. Mt. Vernon, Wichita, KS 67281. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 P.M., at Willowbend Golf Course, 8001 E. Mulberry, Wichita, KS 67226, following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established at Susan G. Komen Kansas, 3243 E. Murdock St. #103, Wichita, KS 67208; and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
