Monte Pierre Wilson

Monte Pierre Wilson, 86, passed from this life on June 26, 2014. He was born in Medicine Lodge on June 28, 1927 to Fred and Laura Jo (Haskins) Wilson. He joined the Navy in 1945 and upon returning from the Navy he married (his words)”his sweetie”, Iva Jean Tharp. Monte worked for the US Postal Service in Medicine Lodge. He and Jean moved to Valley Center where they raised their family. His career included employment at Standard Oil (Amoco), Gates LearJet and Boeing. Monte was a member of the International Order of Freemasonry. Later in life he enjoyed reminiscing about life on the ranch, tinkering on his computers, spending time playing with his great grandchildren and sitting in the gazebo with his “Little Buddy”, Andy, his beloved dog. Left to cherish his memories include his wife, Iva “Jean” (Tharp) of Bel Aire; a son, Jerry Wilson (Susan) of Wichita; daughter, Jan Wilson Sheldon (Mark) of McPherson; 4 grandchildren, Halie Fasig (Cody), Kris Sheldon (Brandi), Heather von Merveldt (Erick), Jennifer Henak (Jeremy) and 6 great grandchildren. Memorials can be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202 and/or Kansas Humane Society 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67220 in honor of his “Little Buddy”, Andy.
