Hess, Lena “Marie” (Costantino), 87, homemaker, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011. The Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 18 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Maries true love was her husband, Herb, whom she adored and faithfully supported in all his endeavors for over 65 years. Marie inspired the love of music and stressed the importance of higher education, both of which led her two children, Sherry and Marty, to their careers in music. Her door and phone line were always open to her family, especially her 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Her favorite hobbies were making flower arrangements, baking and decorating cakes and shopping. Preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, parents, Domenic and Margherita Costantino, brother, Pete Costantino and sister, Angelina. Survivors: daughter, Sherry Freund (Michael) of Wichita; son, Marty Hess (Anna) of Bel Aire, KS; grandchildren, Britt Freund (Denise) of Cross Lanes, WV, Marni Puente (Celso) of Alexandria, WV, Jerrod Freund (Kristen) of Rutherford, NJ, Christopher Hess, and Kelly Kerfoot (Jason) of Derby, KS; great-grandchildren, Shay and Brayden Freund, Amalya, Kalyn and Lielle Freund, Julian Puente and Jacob Kerfoot. Memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202 and All Saints Catholic Church, 3205 E. Grand, Wichita, KS, 67218.
