Jeannette H. Johnson

Jeannette H. Johnson, passed into the next life October 15, 2013. Rosary, 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013; Funeral Service, 10 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2013, both at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in Ft. Wayne, IN on November 30, 2013. Jeannette was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, on March 4, 1917, to William and Carrie (Sorg) Schnelker. She married William C. Hiatt in 1936 and they raised four children. Several years after Williams death, she married Glenn Johnson and shortly thereafter moved to Eufaula, Alabama. After 15 years of enjoying “southern hospitality” and after Glenn passed away, she moved to Wichita, Kansas to be with family. A proud mother, grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 35, she was quick to pick up on the internet and text messaging so she could stay in touch with all of them. Staying on the “cutting edge” was one of her lifelong goals. As one of 11 children, she was very proud of the fact that in 2011, she was one of the five remaining siblings aged 100, 99, 94, 93 and 89. She was preceded in death by husbands, William Hiatt and Glenn Johnson; son, Edward Hiatt; granddaughter, Jan (Schleinkofer) Service; sisters, Mary Yaggy, Gertrude Weber, Margie Bailey, Dorothy Zoeller, Agnes Van Winkle, and brothers, Harold, Robert, Donald and Oliver. She is survived by daughters, Karen Schleinkofer (Dr. Robert) of Ft. Wayne, IN, Dee Hiatt (George Gale) of Milford, CT, Pat Rauch (Bill) of Wichita, KS; daughter-in-law, Sue Hiatt of Ft. Wayne, IN, and sister, Mildred Nulf of New Haven, IN; sisters-in-law, Agnes Schnelker of Ft. Wayne, IN and Dianne Schnelker of FL; brother-in-law, Gene Bailey of Bloomington, IN. In lieu of flowers, it is preferred donations be made to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church Building Fund, 3636 N.
