Klaassen, Carol Sue (Dawson), 60, retired special-education teacher for Chisholm Trail Elementary School (USD 259), died October 16, 2012. Rosary is 6:00 P.M., Friday, October 19, 2012 at Downing and Lahey Mortuary East. Funeral Mass is 9:30 A.M., Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Church of the Magdalen Catholic Church. Carol was born December 10, 1951. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Kansas and a Masters in Special Education from Wichita State University. She belonged to the Ladies Golf Association of Rolling Hills Country Club and Project Beauty. She is preceded in death by: her parents, Richard W. and Betty Dawson; father-in-law, Ted Klaassen; brothers-in-law, Thomas and Matt Klaassen. Survived by: husband, Michael J. Klaassen; sons, Trevor J. Klaassen of Oklahoma City, OK, Mitchell R. (Heather) Klaassen of Frisco, TX; grandson, William C. Klaassen; brothers and sisters, Beth (John) Malone and Mike (Leisa) Dawson of Overland Park, KS, Dick (Sally) Dawson of Greers Ferry, AR, Jeanne (Rick) Fischer of Rockwell, TX; mother-in-law, Talma Klaassen of Whitewater, KS; sister-in-law Linda Klaassen. A memorial has been established with the Fundamental Learning Center, 917 S. Glendale, Wichita, KS 67218.
