Rolly F. Chadd, 81, maintenance worker for USD 259 and independent ceiling contractor, passed away October 16, 2017. Rosary, 6 p.m., Thursday, October 19; Funeral Mass, 11 a.m., Friday, October 20, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Preceded in death by parents, Lonnie and Pearl Chadd; siblings, Monte and (twin) Holly, Shirley ODell and Kay Chadd; son, Rolly Francis Chadd, Jr., and grandson, Ryan Patrick Chadd. Survivors: wife of 59 years, Geralyne "Jerri" Chadd; daughters, Deb Chadd-Peter (George), Teresa Corns (Stuart); sons, Tim Chadd (Sheryl) and David Chadd (Janet); brothers, Lynn Chadd of Hutchinson, Lonnie Chadd of Manteca, CA and Tony Chadd of Ulysses, KS; sister, Jewel Broadfoot of Overland Park; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In 1994, Rolly was inducted into the Kansas Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame in recognition for outstanding performance in mens fastpitch softball. In 2003, Rolly received the Kansas Amateur Softball Association Dale Wilson Umpire Award in recognition for outstanding service, character and contribution to the sport of softball as an umpire. A memorial has been established with St. Joseph Catholic Church, 145 S. Millwood, Wichita, KS 67213. Downing & Lahey Mortuary West.
I remember Rolly while playing Fast-Pitch Softball in Wichita, KS from 1968-1981. A good guy and a hoot to be around. Quite a player in his day. Rest in Peace Rolly, and thank you for the memories…
