Timothy Joseph Hurley, 71, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at home surrounded by his family. He was born November 15, 1940 to John and Frances Hurley. Tim graduated from Kapaun High School and in 1965 he received a BA degree from Wichita State University majoring in journalism. Tim had a varied and interesting career and shared his expertise and love for advertising: he was Creative Director for Quillen-Elsea-Hurley Advertising; Executive Vice-President with Wichita Area Builders Association; Account Manager and City Manager for Pennypower Shopping News; Manager of Marketing Communications for Mycro-Tek; Director of Advertising for Brite Voice Systems and retired in 2005. Tim was a volunteer/PR Director for United Way; on the board of directors for the Ad Club of Wichita; lay minister at St. Jude Parish and Advertising Instructor at WSU. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jed; children, Peter, Shannon, Maureen and T.J. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 46 years; children, Brian (Jenn), Erin, Stephen, Dan (Karen), Michael, James, Kevin and Bridget of Wichita, and John (Linda) of Adrian, MI; five grandchildren; brothers, Jerry (Roe) of Hackensack, NJ, Gil (Carol) of Dallas, TX; sister, Patricia Hurley of Wichita; sister-in-law, Jo Hurley of San Francisco, CA. Rosary, 7 p.m., Sunday, October 21; Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., Monday, October 22, both at St. Jude Catholic Church. Memorials have been established with St. Jude Catholic Church Building Fund, 3030 N. Amidon, Wichita, KS 67204 and Ministry With Persons With Disabilities, 424 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67202.
