“Jerry” Gearl D. Squires, 87, Retired Owner/Operator of Squires Phillips 66, died Friday, March 17, 2017. Jerry was a gifted athlete, loving husband and father who saw the goodness in everyone he met. Rosary will be at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, March 21, 2017; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 22, 2017, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Angela J. Squires; parents, James and Hallie Squires; sister, Lucy Ackley; brother, Darwin Squires. Survived by his sons, Chris Squires, Colin Squires, C. Patrick (Brenda) Squires, all of Wichita, KS, Mike Squires of Kansas City, MO; daughters, Dana (Steve) Becker of Keller, TX, Deanna (Bob) Girrens of Wichita, KS, Dori (Brad) Boers of Leawood, KS; 12 grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Squires; sister, Betty Lee. A memorial has been established with: League 42 Foundation, P.O. Box 20051, Wichita, KS, 67208, and Center of Hope 400 N. Emporia St., Wichita, KS, 67202. Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.

My experience with Jerry was limited to playing against his team while playing Slo-Pitch Softball circa 1965-68. He was a good guy and player, and a hoot to be around. Godspeed Jerry, and thank you for the long ago memories. Unforgettable.
