Luallen-Mentis, Amy Joan, 43, died Friday, July 2, 2010. The service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 5, at College Hill United Methodist Church. Amy was born March 4, 1967, in Liberal, KS. She grew up in Dodge City, KS, and most recently resided in Wichita, KS. The love of Amys life, and her greatest achievement, was her son Alexander. Other survivors: parents, Sally Luallen of Wichita, KS, and Don Luallen of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sisters, Stacy Maloney (Matt) of Overland Park, KS, and Molly Smith (Roger) of Olathe, KS; nieces, Katie and Madeline Maloney; nephews, Harrison and Blake Smith. Amys sense of humor and loving spirit will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202 and the Alex Menis College Education Fund, c/o Bank of America, 2959 N. Rock Rd., Wichita, KS, 67226. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.

Don,and Alex, I am so saddened by your loss. Amy was a wonderful lady and I grew to love her and you two while I took care of her at Wesley. She was a wonderfulperson so full of love and careing for everyone around her. Alex I know what its like to loose your mom I too have lost mine, and Don I have lost a daughter as well. I am out of state and cannot be with you all to say good bye but please know my thoughts and prayers are with you. God will get you threw this. Please give me a call I would like to have a pamphlet from her funeral please.

I was very sorry to learn of Amy’s passing. She was a delight to get to know again. I believe she ultimately found a peace and sense of purpose many of us will never know.
