May 30, 1922 ~ July 4, 2018
Edward John Holscher
Our Lord called Edward John Holscher to be with Him in His heavenly home on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at age 96. Ed lived in Wichita, KS, and for many years in Savannah, GA, before moving to the Legend at Capital Ridge in Topeka, KS in 2016, where he was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Prior to her death in 2017, his wife, Lois, an elementary teacher and active Christian, accompanied him on his lifes journey for nearly 69 years. He loved humor, and always had several jokes ready for any occasion. He was born on the family farm in Ogallala, NE, during a Memorial Day picnic on May 30, 1922, and was baptized June 14. His May 1936 Confirmation verse, "Be thou faithful unto death and I will give you the crown of life", was an unending source of comfort for him, as it is now for his family. He attended a oneroom schoolhouse through eighth grade, graduated from Ogallala High, and worked his way through the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy 1940-1944, graduating Cum Laude. Soon after, he began his pharmaceutical sales career for Parke-Davis, continuing with the company in several capacities for over 60 years, as it became part of Warner-Lambert and then Pfizer. God blessed Ed and Lois with two daughters, Cindy Meyer (Don) - Topeka, and Kay Saving - Peoria, IL; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; all survive. Also surviving are a sister and brother, and numerous nieces and nephews. Throughout his business and family life, Ed displayed honesty and integrity, coupled with unselfish generosity and respect for others. Ed had a true servants spirit, actively volunteering for numerous medical and educational causes, in addition to many church-based activities. He greatly enjoyed leading adult Bible studies and visiting with people of any age about what his Savior, Jesus Christ, meant to him. Funeral service will be 10 AM, Monday, July 9, 2018, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary, Wichita, KS. Memorials have been established with: WU Lois Holscher Elementary Education Fund (at Washburn University), 1729 SW MacVicar Ave., Topeka, KS 66604; or Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3625 S.W. Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS 66614.
My love and sympathy to Eds family. He was Chairman, Board of Evangelism, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Savannah, GA. I was privileged to serve in the mission field with Ed and Lois. They epitomized the word Christian~~~ loving, kind, generous, faithful, sharing the word, and always smiling. I am thankful Ed and Lois were a part of my life . Gods blessing be with you, dear family ~~~
I am deeply saddened to hear of Mr Holschers passing. He was such a fine man who always brought a quick smile, genuine compassion and integrity to his work. It was always a pleasure to see him and he always had a new cartoon to share. I have often thought of him but lost touch as I moved out of the office world! So happy he was with his family and pray for your family through this time.
Sending Love to Uncle Eds family! He is no doubt reunited with Aunt Lois in the home of our Heavenly Father.
It was always a pleasure to visit with Ed when he came to our office. He was very friendly and always brought a smile to our faces. He was very knowledgable on his medical products. It was a better day for everyone when Ed came around as our best detail representative.
Im sad to know hes passed away but it brings comfort to know his beloved wife was there to greet him. My thoughts and prayers are with Eds family. You had a great dad, grandfather and great grandfather and I know youll miss him. May God be with you and comfort you.
