Allen Scott Harrell

Harrell, Allen Scott, 90, of Cape Girardeau, MO., died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, MO. Mr. Harrell ran a poultry business in Wichita prior to WWII and worked for Santa Fe Railroad as a conductor for 33 years in Emporia, KS, retiring in 1977. During WWII, he served in the Army in combat in Europe. He was a member of Wichita Bible Church and of the American Legion in Emporia. He was born November 19, 1914 in Dallas, TX, and was raised in Wichita. He graduated high school from Valley Center in 1933. He married Edna M. Strickland of Kechi, KS, on June 16, 1936. She preceded him in death on February 12, 2002. He is also survived by his daughter, Wanda R. Eldridge, of Cape Girardeau, MO., and his son, James M. Harrell, of Wheaton, IL, as well as six grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, April 7, 2005, from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M., and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, both at Downing and Lahey Mortuary East, with Dr. Bill Beahm officiating. Interment will be at Kechi Cemetery, Kechi, KS. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Lutheran Home, 2825 Bloomfield Rd, Cape Girardeau, MO., 63701.
Visitation with the family 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Downing Lahey Mortuary East.

Wanda, So sorry to hear about your Dad. Will be thinking of you during this time. It seems most of our parents are gone. My mother is still in Emporia and doing well, but I know she may not be able to do all the things she likes doing many more years. Hope to see you at the reunion in October.
