Betty Jane Wilson

Wilson, Betty Jane 87, was born on January 6, 1928 and passed away on October 22, 2015. She is rejoining with her beloved husband, Wendell of 69 years; her mother, Dovie Mae Coleman Flippen; father, Eddie Coleman; 3 sisters, Katie Mae Collier, Irene Bender, Laverne Hanes; and her little brother, Charles Coleman. Survived by her 2 sisters, Mary Alice Phillips of Torrance, CA, and Bobbie Jean Mears of El Dorado, KS. Betty Jane was born in Tom, OK and lived there as a child, went to Irving Elementary School in Ada, OK where she made the Deans list in 1936-37. Her family then moved to El Dorado, KS and she graduated from El Dorado High School. The most significant event in her life is when she married Wendell on September 14, 1946. Betty Jane and Wendell liked to travel and have been on 4 cruises, and to Hawaii, Montana, Oklahoma, and California to visit with her family. Betty Jane said she was very influenced by her mother, whom she took care of her until her passing, she also loved to take care of others. Betty Jane worked at Boeing, Eastside National Bank and Republic Tel Com until she retired at the age of 62. Betty Jane loved playing cards, games, and dancing but most of all she loved spending time with her family members and friends. Betty Jane and Wendell were not blessed with children, but enjoyed their 20 nieces and nephews. Her favorite foods were pizza and tacos, but she disliked spinach. Her funeral will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Downing Lahey East Mortuary, Wichita, KS. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Sunset Lawn Cemetery, El Dorado, KS.
