Janet Eckberg

Janet Eckberg, 89, was born August 21, 1926 in Seattle, Washington and passed away July 5, 2016 in Wichita. Her father, John Novak, died May 7, 1933, on Janets First Communion Day, leaving her mother, Mollie, to raise three daughters ages 6, 4 and 2 during the middle of the Depression. Janet met Dick Eckberg when she served as a bridesmaid in Dicks brothers wedding on November 28, 1945, after his return from military service. Dick was attending the University of Washington and Janet was employed in the registrars office there. They were married August 1, 1947. Janet gave birth to 5 children: Tim, Tom (Terrie), Christina Norell (Charles), Father Joe Eckberg and Mary Kay Rott (Chris). Janet is survived by her husband and all 5 of her children. Rosary, 10 a.m.; Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m., both Friday, July 8 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
