Gary Lee Armstrong

Armstrong, Gary L., 68, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., at Hillside Christian Church, 8330 E. Douglas, Wichita, Kan. Immediately following the service everyone is welcome to attend a reception located at AJs Grill, inside Northrock Lanes, 3232 North Rock Road. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and James Armstrong. Gary was a long time employee of CGF Industries. Prior to that he worked for the Fourth Financial Corporation, for fourteen years, in both Topeka and Wichita. Gary served for many years on the Wichita Historical Museum Board. An incredibly avid bowler throughout his life, Gary was a board member on the local bowling associations Board of Directors, in addition to being a Great Plains Bowling Hall of Fame member. His greatest love in the sport of bowling was his interest, support, and commitment to the Wichita State University Shocker Bowling Program. Gary provided scholarship support to student-athletes for nearly 25 years. His remarkable generosity helped countless students reach their dream of a college education. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Gary L. Armstrong Scholarship Fund, care of The Wichita State University Foundation, 1845 N. Fairmount, Wichita, KS 67260-0002, or Downing and Lahey Mortuary East.
