Fitzgerald, Edward J. “Joe,” M.D. 93, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015 in Wichita, KS. Born January 8, 1922 on a farm near Liberal, KS. Retired after 37 years as a chief Radiologist at St. Josephs Hospital. Served as an Army Infantry Unit Commander through the Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland campaigns. He was wounded in combat. During his career, he served two terms on the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts. Dr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald were charter members of St. Thomas Aquinas parish. Survivors: wife, Mary Jane; children, Patricia F. Read of Wichita, Carol Matschiner (Robert) of St. Louis, Jane Warren (Thomas) of Andover, Edward Fitzgerald, Jr., Tim Fitzgerald, both of Wichita; grandchildren, Philip Warren (Stephanie) of Wichita, Robert Matschiner of New Orleans, LA, Margaret Wagle (James) of Payson, AZ, Joseph Matschiner of St. Louis; great-grandchildren, William Warren, Luke Warren.
