Maxine Sylvia Collings

Maxine Sylvia Collings, 89, died Thursday, July 6, 2017. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 14, 2017, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church Chapel. Maxine was the daughter of Floyd and Harriet (Curl) Wells, who precede her in death. She grew up in the Manhattan, KS area and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Home Economics. Maxine married Jack L. Fisher on August 29, 1948. He passed on September 10, 1955. On June 8, 1960, she married Leo L. Collings. Together they moved to Mulvane, KS where Maxine became a stay-at-home wife and mother. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing Bridge, and created beautiful needlework. She also volunteered at East Heights United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Leo; brother, Donald Wells. She is survived by her children, Debby Fisher Kohrt of Austin, TX, Gary L. (Karen) Collings, Carol J. (Ron) Miller, both of Wichita; siblings, Louise Voth of Overland Park, KS, Norma (Frank) Rossi of Wichita; sister-in- law, Dortetha Wells, of Salina; grandchildren, Kevin (Adrienne) Collings, Craig (Libby) Collings, Kyle (Ashley) Collings, Jarod (Laurel) Kohrt, Kristen (Jason) Parkhill; great-grandchildren, Elliott, Amelia, Briony, and Genevieve Collings, Caleb and Zooey Parkhill, Jackson Collings; and baby Kohrt due in September. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1958 N. Webb Rd., Wichita, KS 67206.
