Olivia M. Peck, 95, passed away Monday, December 30, 2019. Funeral Service, 9:30 a.m., Friday, January 3, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. The Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 p.m., in Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas. Olivia was born April 29, 1924, on her Conger grandparents farm. She grew up in Indiana and moved to Iola, Kansas, where she taught 8th graders in a one-room schoolhouse. She met her husband, Harold Peck, and they were married April 20, 1947. During the first five years of their marriage, Olivia and Harold had four children: Phil, Sandy, Bruce and Jackie. Olivia had so many jobs during her life. She worked in an airplane factory, was a secretary, a teacher, phlebotomist and a birth registrar. Olivia was genuinely a caring, loving person. She was loved by all the people, including staff and other residents, in the nursing facility where she lived. She always had a positive outlook on life. Olivias passions in life included tole painting, china painting, Methodist Womens Leadership, baking, traveling, playing Olga the Clown, enjoying grandkids and playing cards with friends and family. She and Harold even went rattlesnake hunting with some friends several times. Olivia was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Edith Shook; husband, Harold Peck; brother, Carl, and sister, Pauline. Survivors include her sons, Philip (Gayle) Peck, Bruce (Karen) Peck; daughters, Sandy Peck, Jackie (Sam) Strickland; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established with The American Red Cross, 707 N. Main, Wichita, KS 67203. The family extends a special thank you to the Reflection Living care facility as well as Phoenix Home Care & Hospice.
