John Adams Prescott Leiter

Leiter, John Adams Prescott, 86, died suddenly at home October 25. Born in Kansas City, MO to James C. and Constance Leiter, John attended Southwest High School and Kemper Military Academy, and then attended Michigan University. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Upon returning to Kansas City, John became a management consultant and one of the founders of Lawrence, Leiter Co. John later moved to Wichita, when he bought and modernized a clinical laboratory that they named StatLabs. After selling StatLabs, he continued to invest in ventures and became an investment advisor for Central Plains Advisors. John was a long time member of Kansas City Country Club, Wichita Country Club and Wichita Downtown Rotary. He also supported the Sons of the American Revolution, Wichita Genealogical Society, Quail Unlimited, and Junior Achievement of Wichita. He enjoyed fishing and bird hunting, as well as golf and tennis. Friends and family will miss Johns loyal friendship and sense of humor. John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maribel (Mickey) Leiter, and their children, Susan, George, and Scott (wife Elin), and also his brother James C. Leiter, Jr. (wife Amada) and his nieces and nephew. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 3 at Larksfield Place, 7373 E. 29th St. N. Wichita, KS 67226. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Episcopal Social Services Venture House, 1005 E. 2nd St. North, Wichita, Kansas 67214.
