Shirley M. Mainzer

Shirley Marie Mainzer, 86, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016. Rosary will be 7 p.m., Sunday, July 10; Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., Monday, July 11, both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Shirley grew up in Chicago, Illinois, where she met her husband, Leonard. They were married and Lens work brought them to Wichita, Ks, where they raised 7 children. Shirley loved spending time gardening, cooking, playing with the grandkids, and family get togethers. She worked as a secretary for several years, excelling in shorthand and typing as well as helping her husband with a family business. She volunteered as a counselor for A Better Choice for several years. Her faith was her strength throughout her life. Shirley had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother and was a member of a parish rosary group for over 20 years. She is preceded in death by her son, Thomas. She is survived by her husband, Leonard (married for 65 years); children, Linda Mainzer, Cindy Goodwin (Paul), Mark (Jeannie), David (Jolene), Fr. James Mainzer, all of Wichita and Mike (Karen) of St. Louis, MO; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Memorials to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N.
