Hiram E. Rank

Rank, Hiram E., 87, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010. Service 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 29, Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Hiram was born December 8, 1922 in Randall, KS. He retired from USD 259 after 40 years as Coordinator of Supplies and Distribution. Preceded in death by parents, Ellery and Zelma Rank, brother, William Rank and first wife, Delores. Hiram moved from the farm to Wichita in 1941 and began working at Beech Aircraft. He enlisted and served in the US Army during WWII, returning as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. He is a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and the Midian Shrine, serving as Potentate in 1996. Hiram is a 32 Mason and belonged to Albert Pike Lodge. He was a member of the University Club, Royal Order of Jesters and York Rite Lodge, Sr. Bowling League of Midian Shrine and various units in Midian Shrine. He was an avid gardener and carpenter. Survivors: wife, Patricia; son, Larry Rank (Gail) of Wichita Falls, TX; daughter, Karen Bruner (Larry) of Loveland, CO; step-son, William Wilson MD (Caryl) of Idaho Falls, ID; step-daughter, Louise Morris (Pete) of Wichita; sister, Opal McElroy (Carl); sister-in-law, Shirley Rank; brother-in-law, Kenneth Garver; 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established with the Midian Shrine Plane of Mercy, c/o 130 N. Topeka, Wichita, KS 67202 and Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1958 N. Webb Rd., Wichita, 67206.
