Charles R. Cupit

Cupit, Dr. Charles R., 82, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 25, 2013. Born in New Orleans, LA to James W. and Minnie Mae (Ducker) Cupit. Charles was one of 13 graduates at Union Church High School in Mississippi. He worked his way through school at Mississippi State University earning his Masters degree in chemical engineering and continued on to the University of Illinois to complete his doctorate. Charles worked in Houston, TX for 12 years, residing in LaPorte, TX. He moved to Wichita, KS to take a job with Vulcan Chemicals Company from which he retired in 1996. Charles was a blessing to his wife of 54 years and his daughters and grandchildren. He enjoyed golf, gardening, volunteering at Botanica, Kansas State Football, and being a part of the Double Ring Sunday School class. He was deeply committed to caring for his wife in her later years. He will be dearly missed. Preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Madonna R. (Lawrence) Cupit. Survived by: daughters, Janon (Jim) Otto of Overland Park, KS, Christie (Larry) LeMaster of Wichita, KS, Carol (Alan) Yankey of Overland Park, KS; 9 grandchildren; brother, James Harold Cupit (Alberta Berdon). Funeral service to be held at First United Methodist Church of Wichita, 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 30, 2013.
