Michael Patrick Higgins, passed away at 57 years old. He was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. Michaels passion and vibrant personality took him to California in 1988. There, he met the love of his life, Diana Madeline Higgins, captured her heart and brought her back to his home, Kansas. Together, they raised 5 kids: Halsten Helena, 24, Daghain Hedy, 22, William Patrick Higgins II, 20, Finnegan Elias, 18, and Shanley Irene, 14. He felt blessed to live his life and raise his kids in Kansas. Michaels contagious laugh and fierce loyalty had him making friends his entire life, but the friendships dearest to him were those he made in childhood. He will be remembered for his smile, lust for life and booming presence. He also leaves behind his brothers John and Mark, and his baby sister, Monica. His family, whom he cherished above all else, will remember him with loving gratitude. Rosary will be at 5:00 pm, Friday, November 2, 2018; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 3, 2018, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Downing & Lahey Mortuary East.

  2. Maddy & Family – We are so sorry for Mikes passing. It has shocked so many people and he will be missed. Mike was so very supportive of classmates when they had a family member die. I saw him at so many rosaries and funerals. His humor was delightful. His politics so animated and forthright. His long time commitment to St Thomas and Catholic schools was very admirable. Please know you are all in our prayers.
May he Rest in the Peace of Christ.

  3. Michael,
Youve always been one of the finest Irishmen that anyone could

  16. Mike was a good friend and a fine contributor to the commercial real estate business in Wichita. He was kind, friendly and cheerful. I enjoyed him a great deal. He was just like his Dad in that he never met a stranger.

  17. Mike was one cool cat. I can only remember good times when I was with him, whether watching our boys play baseball or having drinks at Harrys. He was full of life and always had a great story to share. I am glad to hear that he was doing both right up to the end. But his passing leaves me with a heavy heart–he will be missed. I wish I could be there for his funeral. Prayers for Maddy and the kids.

  18. My sincere condolences to the Higgins family. We had lots of laughs and fun growing up in the old neighborhood and Mike never changes. Always Hi Joey. Thought and prayers to you all.

  19. Mike will be greatly missed but his legacy of laughter and loyalty will continue to inspire. One in a billion. A practical and powerful example of a life dedicated to faith, family and friends!

  20. Michael … was a mans man. He was the truest of friends. I know for a fact, he was deeply devoted to his family. He was like a brother to me. I will never forget him. God had him in an instant to hold and if I know Michael to laugh with upon meeting. Our deepest condolences to the Higgins family from the Porter family. Michael will be missed

  21. Michael was a carbon copy of Bill – they were both one of a kind, and now both are dearly missed for their cordial and welcoming smiles and greetings of friendship. Our sincere condolences to Maddie and the kids.
