Coffey, Daniel Joseph, 92, passed away at home November 1st on the feast of All Saints Day. Rosary 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, November 5 and Funeral Mass 10:30 A.M., Thursday, November 6, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Dan was born in Franklin, KS on February 4, 1916. He was a kind, hard-working, generous and humble man - a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will forever be remembered as “Higby”. Dan had a successful career in the food brokerage business as owner of Coffey Brokerage Co. for over fifty years, receiving many awards and honors including the Nathan Cummings (founder of Sara Lee Corp.) National Broker of the Year award. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of Serra Club, Knights of Columbus and Saint Thomas Aquinas parish for 45 years. Dan also served on the associate board of directors at Newman University. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Dan was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Jane Coffey. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Erma, and his children: Mary Lu (Gordon) Tuthill, Dan (Dianne) Coffey, Kathy (Patrick) OShaughnessy, Erma (Rob) Blick, Colleen (Tom) Dondlinger. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren: Brad and Lynn Tuthill (Ryan and Avery), Kathleen Tuthill (Vincent Marino), Devon Coffey, Libby Henry, Leslie Coffey, Lucy and Otto Hilbert (Reilly, Megan, and Rachel), Patrick and Jeanie OShaughnessy (Patrick and Lillian), Danny and Jennifer OShaughnessy (Ian, Merrill, Claire, and Lael), Brigid and Steve Roe (Dillon, Kathleen, Patrick and Elizabeth), Michael and Natalie OShaughnessy (Audrey, Caroline, and Katherine), Molly OShaughnessy, Eric Blick, Natalie and Jared Gudenkauf, Kevin Blick, Brian Blick, Anne Dondlinger, David Dondlinger, and Peter Dondlinger. The entire Coffey family will be forever grateful to Dr. Andrew Massey M.D and caregivers Penny Anderson and Thelma Arnold for their dedicated service.
