Graham, Betty O., Betty was born September 24, 1911 to Blanche D. and Ted Oliver, passed on July 15, 2012. She was a lifelong Wichitan and active in many organizations. One of her fondest memories was being Homecoming Queen at Fairmont College, now Wichita State University. In 1933 she graduated in the School of Business and together she and Galen had a construction company, building many homes in the area. During the early years of the Wichita Symphony she played in the violin section and was a founding member of the Wichita Symphony Womens Association. During World War II she was a Red Cross worker for the war effort. Betty was an avid golfer. She was a 70 year member of the Randolph Loving Chapter of the DAR and served as Regent twice. She was an active member of Delta Gamma, the Junior League, and the Saturday Afternoon Musical Club and was a lifelong Christian Scientist. Last September friends helped her celebrate her 100th birthday. Preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Galen Graham, brother, Billy, sister, Jackie O. Theis, and nephew, C.W. Theis. Betty is survived by her niece, Jackie Lyn Theis Ives, of Overland Park, Kansas, who is very grateful for the loving care given to her by the staff at Chaucer Estates and recently by Hospice Care of Kansas and to loving friends who visited and read with her. Services will be held at Downing Lahey East on Wednesday, July 25 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to The Wichita Symphony, 225 W. Douglas, Wichita, KS, 67202.
So loved this gal. She was a gardening enthusiast. I spent many years working on her water garden with her. What a lady she was.
