Daniel Rincon Gonzalez, Jr. “Mr. Dan,” 67, Retired Physical Education Teacher for USD 259, died Tuesday, March 10, 2020. Rosary will be at 6:00 pm, Monday, March 16, 2020; Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 17, 2020, both at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (in the Old Gym).  Mr. Dan was retired after 37 years as a PE teacher at Cloud Elementary School. He dedicated his life to children throughout the city, coaching and volunteering. He had a great love for Jesus, Notre Dame, and his wife, sons, and family. Preceded in death by his parents, Daniel, Sr. and Isabelle Gonzalez. Survived by his wife, Pamela Gonzalez; sons, Colby (Amber) Gonzalez of Livermore, CA, Corey (Angie Marie) Gonzalez of Overland Park, KS, Andy (Angie Lynn) Gonzalez of Wichita; siblings, Juanita (Ernesto) Holguin, Rick (Angela) Gonzalez, Patty (Dave) Stallbaumer, all of Newton, KS; brother-in-law, Gary (Carole) Hope of Derby, KS; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Presley, Gia, Ivy, Cruz, Braden, and Colton Gonzalez; numerous cousins, relatives, and friends. Memorials have been established with: Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 124 N. Roosevelt, Wichita, KS 67208; Kansas Food Bank (Food for Kids Program), 1919 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67211.   1. When I started at Cloud Elementary 23 years ago. Mr. Dan was there with words and with support. He will be missed by me and so many others. This world will be just a little less bright. My thoughts and love are with his family and friends.

Gonzalez Family not sure if you remember me but Dan and I had several things in common same college classes-same age- taught at only 1 school longer then any PE teachers in Wichita 37 and 36 yrs. wore same type clothes to teach PE- love of the students -teaching-Jesus and Family last not least The fightin Irish Notre Dame[think I had more ND stuff in my office though Dan]One of the most kind man I’ve ever meant God Bless You Dan Rod O’Donnell

  4. Mr Dan, No words can express what I’m feeling at the moment. My PE teacher at Cloud Elementary. The memories of the parachute, and kickball. DODGEBALL and bombardment! And the joy on your face. because of the joy it brought to ours. All because of you. You taught us how to work together. And what it takes to win AND lose. You brought a big joy to so many! Damn!   10. I always looked forward to going to school when I was little on the days I had P.E because he would be there. There’s no doubt of how much of an amazing person he was because everyone in class would be excited to see him. My heart goes out to the family for this tremendous loss.

  11. My thoughts and prayers to his family and everyone who loved him. Mr. Dan was someone that left that lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of being his student. I have so many fond memories of him at Cloud, and going back to visit long after my Cloud days had passed. Heaven will be a little bit brighter with him there.

  12. Mr. Dan was a household name in my family for many generations. He retired the year my daughter graduated the 5th grade. I truly believed he was a Superman. Rest easy boss man. You will forever be missed.

  13. I will always remember Mr. Dan as a kind and caring soul. He would always look out for his students and make a positive impact. I remember how everyone was saddened when he retired. After he decided to sub I always looked forward to him coming to our school to sub. I will always remember that wonderful smile he had with students, parents, and staff. Thank you Mr. Dan for making an impact on everyone’s lives including mine and my daughter’s. RIP

  14. I am so sorry for your loss. He was such a wonderful person. There are generations of students that will always remember him fondly. He was truly a gentlemen and an awesome human being. I will miss seeing his smiling face.

  15. I am so sorry to learn of Mr. Dan’s passing! He was such the wonderful P.E teacher and was one of my all time favorite teachers from Cloud! The scooters and the parachute games were the best! He always made physical education fun! He will be missed!

  23. My condolences to the family. 1978 seems like yesterday for him teaching me how to share and play nice with others.

  24. We called him Mr. G because we couldn’t pronounce his last name!! Mr. G was our P.E. teacher at Cloud Elementary in the 70’s. We were probably one of his first classes! He was the greatest, always jumped rope with us during the jump-rope-a-thon and played soccer with us! May he rest in peace!

  25. Mr. Dan was my PE teacher at Cloud during his first years teaching and I remember the joy and laughter he brought to us while teaching us to work together as a team and to believe in ourselves. I’m grateful I had the pleasure of being one of his students and know he made a difference in lives of many students long after me! Keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.
