Blick, Ernest Nicholas, 93, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at his home in Kansas City. Rosary, 7 P.M., Monday, April 9 (Visitation for family and friends beginning at 6 P.M.); Mass of The Resurrection, 10 A.M., Tuesday, April 10, both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N. Socora in Wichita. Burial Resurrection Cemetery. Ernest was born in 1914 in Colwich, KS to Nicholas and Anna (Steffens) Blick, the tenth of thirteen children. He was a graduate of Maize High School and Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg. Ernest was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Aleutian Islands and the Philippines, achieving the rank of Captain. He married Berna Maxine Horner in 1946 and had three children. He worked for 32 years at the National Life and Accident Insurance Co. (now American General) as a district manager and administrative assistant. During his retirement years, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, gardening, and sports. He was a devout Catholic whose faith kept him optimistic despite lifes adversities. Even after suffering a debilitating stroke in 2002, he never lost his sense of humor. He was a devoted husband for 60 years, and was the best father a child could hope for. Survivors include wife, Berna; son, Michael Blick of Denver, CO; daughters, Terry Dittrich of Prairie Village, KS, and Lynne Negrete of Knoxville, TN; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Rosary, 7:00 P.M., Monday, April 9, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Visitation for family and friends beginning at 6:00 P.M.
