Esther May Lemon

Lemon, Esther May, 84, of Wichita, Ks, loving mother and friend, entered into rest and Heaven, Sunday, November 6, 2011. The service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 11 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. She will be laid to rest in Nashville, Cemetery, in Nashville, KS. Esther died peacefully at Larksfield Place in Wichita. She was first and foremost a loving mother. Esther will be missed by her family and friends. One of her greatest achievements was her remarkable service to AT T and Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Esther worked for one company her entire life, giving forty-five years of service, with thirty-seven years of perfect attendance with loyal dedication. Work was her mantra. Esther retired from AT T in April of 1987. She enjoyed golfing, traveling and bowling. She attended church at the First Mennonite Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Esther will be remembered for her quick wit and great sense of humor. Additionally, she was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers group. Esther is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Swope of Smithville, MO and Teresa Anne LaNier of Wichita, KS. She will be remembered by her grandchildren as well, Patrick Ryan Patterson of Billings, MT, Amber Paterson of Missoula, MT and Melissa Monbarren of Missoula, Mt; great-granddaughter, Savanna Bicha, great-grandsons, Cortland, Carson, Chase, Samuel and Benjamin. “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4. Esther and I sat next to each other in choir at FMBC for many years and I thoroughly enjoyed her. She was a very special lady.
