William Lloyd Phelps

William Lloyd Phelps, 83, died Sunday, April 5, 2015. Visitation with the family, 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 7; Funeral, 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, both at Downing Lahey West. Lloyd was born March 7, 1932 to Horace and Lela Phelps. He moved to Kansas in 1955 where he worked in the oil fields and was a welder for 18 years. In 1973, he moved to Wichita and worked for Central Detroit Diesel for 20 years, retiring in 1998. Preceded in death by parents; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; grandson, Drew Sherwood. Survivors: wife of 64 years, Wanda; children, Sharon Sherwood, Steve Phelps (Eileen); 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Lonnie Phelps (Juanita).
