Michael Sowell

May 15, 2020 ~ May 15, 2020
Michael Sowell, 66, died Friday, May 15, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael worked 42 years for Beechcraft, retiring as Test Flight Coordinator. He was a skilled hunter and an avid outdoorsman. There wasn’t a pond he couldn’t find a fish in, nor a fairway he didn’t slice! He adored his wife of 43 years and they looked forward to their weekly Felipe’s dinner date! Michael will be fondly remembered for his tenacity on the ball fields, his eagle eyes on the hunting grounds, and his love of Nascar. Michael was fondly known as “Papa” to his 5 grandkids and never missed an opportunity to play Nerf war, go fishing, or play hide-and-seek. He was a child at heart and would do anything for his family! He was a true southern gentleman and missed his family and friends in South Carolina. He loved to go back to his hometown and dote on his Mama and Sisters. We’re going to miss his amazing sense of humor, his big bear hugs, and his traditional bugle wake-up whistle! We love you Honey…Brother…Daddy…Popsy! Preceded in death by his father, H. Tillman Sowell; mother, Eleanor Vaughn. Survived by his wife, Peggie Sowell; son, Jason Fritts; daughters, Amie (Benjamin) Harper, Angela (Ryan) Bulson, all of Wichita; sisters, Lynn S. Weeks of SC, Kimberly Alexander of FL; grandchildren, Arthur and Zoie Harper, Michael and Jackson Bulson, Joseph Fritts. Visitation begins at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, May 20, 2020 with Rosary at 7:00 pm at All Saints Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will follow on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at 10:00 am at All Saints Catholic Church. A recording of Michaels services can be viewed below.
