Garden Plain, Kansas
Cooper Jack Hermes, 20, of Garden Plain, Kansas passed away on the night of Saturday August 29. The son of Scott and Michelle Hermes. He was born in Wichita, Kansas May 13th 2000. A 2019 graduate of Garden Plain High School. He never knew a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. As the youngest of five boys he always had a point to prove and a place to hold in the family. He knew he had to live up to his tyrant brothers. He matched, if not exceeded, what his mother would have shaken her head at only for her to scold Scott for the boys’ shenanigans. No matter what came his way, he always spoke his truth with confidence.
He was a video game enthusiast. He loved shooting trap and was on the shooting team at his high school. He was easily persuaded to be the Owl mascot for a few football games. He was not easily embarrassed but knew how to embarrass others and enjoyed doing so. He was passionate about guns, the second amendment, and was a true patriot. He was a redneck through and through who enjoyed wearing hunter orange, cowboy hats, and cutoffs. He loved his country and would have loved to have been able to serve it. He enjoyed weekends at the dunes with his dad, brothers, and friends where they created lifelong memories. Some of these are too inappropriate to tell here today. Cooper also loved his adopted German Shepherd, Dallas. Frisbee was their favorite.
Cooper Jack is survived by his Mother Michelle and Father Scott. Four brothers: Jordan (wife Amanda), Chet (fiancé Storrie), Adin, and Evan (fiancé Chelsea) as well as extended family.
Cooper was beloved by all and will forever be in our hearts. #BrothersForever
So many memories of us growing up together as cousins, but my favorite has to be when I taught you how to ask grandpa for candy inappropriately for Halloween. Lol. You were an amazingly kind and generous kid and I would have enjoyed hanging out with you more as adults. Love you Cooper. Give grandpa a hug for us and watch over us together. Hugs for all those feeling this great loss. Xoxo Jessica Rogers

Great kid! Loved seeing him at birthday party’s and Waynoka! Our prayers are with you all! Heaven gained an angel and you have your own special guardian angel.
I remember taking care of Cooper when he was a toddler. I even pushed his high chair to table yo be fed. He was my side kick on spraying thistles, we would spend hours on four wheeler driving or spraying them. My heart feels broken and he will be missed greatly, sorry I have not seen him for a while. Loved him and support n prayers for Michelle n Scott.. No words to Express your loss. LOVE YOU COOPER, AUNT SUSIE.
My heartfelt condolences to the entire family. You have lost a wonderful young man, who will forever be in your hearts and memories. Scott and Michelle, I can’t imagine the pain of having to say goodbye to your child, but I hope you know, he was a wonderful combination of all the best of you two. May the memories you all have help you find comfort in the coming days and years, and may you all know just how much you were loved by him. ❤
So sorry for your loss.. Trust God to be God… Prayers for you all…

I worked with Cooper. He was a good guy, easy to get along with, and a hell of worker. We are all gonna miss him at HCF.
Cooper began working at HCF back in March and in 6 months he left such a positive impression on us that he will not be forgotten. He was always asking how he could help, what more could he do, always made everyone he was around feel comfortable. Cooper was a tremendous asset to HCF. Our Prayers and thoughts are with you. Thank you Cooper for making our lives better.
Prayers, love, condolences to family and friends
