Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Our prayers and sympathy to the family. Father helped us as family throughout the years. We keep him in our prayers and you as family as well. May he rest in peace. I am sure he was greeted with “Well done, good and faithful servant”.

  2. I have nothing but the fondest of memories of Fr. Jerry! He had one of the kindest, happiest spirits ever! He was always a servant to others and was forever sharing his wealth, his generosity with others. Fr. Jerry was at OLG parish in Newton from 1987-1991. But his impact on me continued far beyond those 4 years he was my pastor. Being with him in Venezuela with other family/friends/parishioners was a highlight of my life. Fr. Jerry, enjoy our Savior, Jesus, in Heaven. I know you’re worthy! Kim Silvernale-Wagner

  3. Fr. Jerry was the first priest I met when I moved to Wichita and started attending St. Patrick. His warmth and smile immediately made me feel right at home and I knew I had found my parish. He married my husband & I 20 years ago and was so supportive during our marriage preparation. He was truly a servant of Christ and his intense love of the Eucharist was evident during every Mass. I will forever hold fond memories of this wonderful man. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.

  4. I remember Father Beat coming to Holy Savior and conduction a full Spanish Mass for the school. He was always available to our church when needed. Words cannot express our profound sorrow at the loss of such a wonderful man. Descansar en paz querido Padre. (Rest in peace dear Father.) Terry & Anita Guidry – Bel Aire, Kansas

  5. I shall always remember my friend Fr. Jerry. What a leader in the Kairos Prison ministry. He and Nancy Jackson deserve so much credit for bringing Kairos to Kansas. Thank you Jerry for your love of the incarcerated! Grace and Peace, Rick Thornton

  6. I send my sincere condolences to the family of Fr. Jerry. Though Fr. Jerry was never my pastor, 10 1/2 years ago I was admitted to Via Christi – St Francis with extreme blood loss due to a botched colonoscopy and subsequent heart damage. As I was being rushed to another area of the hospital for testing, Fr. Beat arrived in the hallway, the hospital bed stopped, and this kind and gentle priest administered the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick to me. I will be forever grateful for his presence in that moment, and the power of the Sacrament to stop time and open the moment to eternity, and our final destination to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In that moment, the peace the world cannot give enveloped me, and the comfort of Jesus’ love shared through Fr. Jerry was incredible. May he now share the lot of the saints in light at the wedding feast in Heaven, praising Almighty God forever. Thank you, Fr Jerry, for your response to God’s call to the priesthood and the gift you were to the People of God. Mike DeRee

  7. Father B was a great man of god. He was always there for myself and others anytime you called. His power of prayer was awesome. He would pray over me and lift the weight of my shoulders . For 25 years he was part of my life. Rest in peace father b. I will carry in my heart forever…… Thanks for everything…. Sheryl

  8. Father jerome beat is my best and only real friend father spiritual helper he loved my children and I we love him also he taught me how to live without needing help from everyone he never turned his back on us ever true warrior for God.is and will be missed loved always. Sabrina Talavera and family

  9. I am sponsoring a candidate in OCIA and attended mass with her this past week. I told her I have repeated these words, “My Lord and my God” everytime the eucharist host and chalice are raised during consecration. This is because I witnessed at OLG parish Fr Beat whispered them as he elevated the bread and wine on his tippytoes. His love for the eucharist is contagious.

Fr Beat also had a wonderful gift of remembering EVERYONE’S name. He gave so much selfless love and was a true reflection of Christ in persona.

Thank you Fr Beat. We love you!
