Preceded in death by her parents, August and Candace Bohm. Survived by her husband, Robert Mock; daughter, Alicia (Luke) Sullivan; grandchildren, Patrick and Madison Sullivan; siblings, Kyle Bohm, Christopher (Sandra) Bohm, Melanie (Daniel) Bloom-McNulty; 10 nieces and nephews.
Rhondalyn received her Bachelor’s Degree and Teaching Certificate from Kansas State University and her Master’s Degree in Education and Counseling from Wichita State University. In high school and college, Rhondalyn’s theatrical talent landed her the lead in many dramas and musicals. She continued throughout her life dabbling in local theatre, singing, playing the guitar, and loved going to see Broadway musicals.
Rhondalyn was a lifelong avid reader and experienced traveler, at home and abroad. She and her husband had recently retired and were enjoying long RV road trips across the country. She had an adventurous and active spirit - always up for a hike, a scuba diving expedition, boating, yoga, and had recently taken up boxing.
Rhondalyn was a passionate animal lover with an affinity for Cocker Spaniels, all of which she trained and certified as therapy dogs. When she was working in the Andover and Wichita School districts, she would bring them with her, much to the delight of the children she worked with.
Rhondalyn will be remembered for her strong, likable personality, infectious laugh and exuberant warmth with a touch of free spiritedness. Her greatest joy was her husband, Bob, and time spent with her daughter, Alicia, and two grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with: Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67219.
Services in care of: Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
Bob & family members-Sorry to read of Rhonda’s passing, she definitely did love to share her talents of music & theater. A sudden loss is difficult to grasp, Treasure all the precious memories you’ve shared.
A great force of light and life , that was Rhonda. I was her high school drama teacher. She was in our wedding. I am so very sorry. May her loved ones be consoled by God and the memory of of her beautiful laugh.
Rhonda was so much fun in Great Society! Traveling around the state and recording in Topeka were the highlights and we created a great bond! Our reunion concerts were a wonderful time to reconnect! Prayers to Bob and your daughter! She was a mean banjo player next to me and her spirit will live in in all of us!
Bob and family members of Rhonda- was saddened to read of Rhondas’ passing. Sudden losses are tough- hold on to all great memories you shared. Prayers for all ! I am grieving with you as I lost my husband of 63 years in Dec.
To Bob and Family, We are sorry for your loss and we extend our sympathies to you. I worked Rhondalyn at Jackson Elementary School. We served on the Career Day committee for years. My husband Ron and Bob worked together and helped us get Engineers from SpiritAerosystems to come and share with our students. Rhondalyn was full of life and loved our students. She did whatever she could to help them be successful. That is why I was so connected to her—-we shared the same values and work ethic. When she left Jackson, I really missed her enthusiastic love for the students and their families. Our hearts are with you as you go through this journey. But remember, you are not alone. God be with you, Ron and Cathy Davis
Teaching with Rhondalyn for several years in Shawnee Mission gave me some of the best memories of her kind and humorous soul! She was a ray of sunshine for all those who knew her. Rhondalyn’s deep caring and concern for her family (including all of her specials dogs through the years), friends and students she taught and counseled was astounding. (I hope all my grammar/punctuation is correct in this post, for the English teacher in her will be critiquing it in heaven!!!)She will be forever greatly missed. RIP my dear friend. Diane Backs
Bob and family, We were shocked and saddened to hear of Rhonda’s passing. Though we didn’t see her often, she always brought joy to any gathering. Please know that we are thinking of you and praying for your comfort and peace.
Rhonda and I both attended CCCC from the fall of 1975 to the spring of 1977. We were in choir and also participated in plays. The world will miss her musical ability and her sense of fun. Prayers for her family and friends. Lisa Nelson Goodheart
Rhonda and I met at WSU as we completed our counseling program together. We became close friends and enjoyed yoga, trips to Barnes and Noble to buy more books……, planting flowers in the spring, and enjoying the great outdoors. Much love to her family, Bob, Alicia, Melanie, Kyle, Chris, and her faithful pup Wallace. She was a great counselor and friend. She loved her job, her students at Jackson Elementary, her therapy dogs, family, and friends. Her generous heart and caring personality will be greatly missed by many. Kim Voth
I had the privilege of teaching with Rhondalyn at Derby Middle School. She and I made several trips to Washington DC with eighth graders, encouraging them to visit our government buildings and experience our nation’s history. Rhondalyn was a dynamic, much loved teacher and friend. Dianne Adams
I never had the pleasure of meeting Rhondalyn, but I worked with her husband Bob for nearly 30 yrs at Boeing/Spirit. Bob talked a lot about how much he and his wife loved camping and he couldn’t wait to retire so they could take longer trips. My thoughts and prayers are with the Mock family and friends.
It is not very often when you come across someone who is as genuinely kind as Rhondalyn. I feel so blessed to have met her. She had a way of quickly connecting with others leaving them feeling like they had known her for years, even if it was just for a short time. She enjoyed bettering herself and was always working at it. It was also no secret how much she loved her husband, daughter, siblings, and grandchildren. We were blessed to have an angel among us and now looking over us. I will cherish my time with you, Rhondalyn.
Hi Bob, sorry for your lose. My deepest condolences (Kim Say)
My condolences sorry for your loss may the Lord give you peace in these trying times
It was my absolute privilege to have met Rhonda through my sister Lisa. In 2018 I travelled to the US with my daughter & first met lovely Rhonda & we all travelled to New York for the trip of my life. Then in 2019 she made the long journey with Lisa to Australia to surprise me at my 50th birthday with I will never forget & was the best gift I could have ever received. Thank you Rhonda for coming into our lives and most importantly for being such a loving and special friend to my sister Lisa & brother-in-law David. Your compassion, kindness & smile will be missed & never forgotten. You brought so much light into the world. You will always be in my heart & the hearts of your extended family in Sydney Australia. May you rest in peace lovely lady xxx
I was able to work with Rhonda when she invited our robotics team at Spirit to Jackson Elementary School for a career day. We had so much fun sharing with the kids that we went back again for many years. Bob, so very sorry for your loss. Our prayers are with you and your family. God Bless.
I first heard about Rhonda when my manager Bob talked about their travels together. The first time I ever met Rhonda was over a bowl of soup at the annual Jackson Elementary School career day. Rhonda had contagious energy about her and was a joy to get to be around. Bob, or “Bobby” as I heard Rhonda call you, I’m incredibly sorry for your untimely loss. I’ll be praying for you.
Rhondalyn was a very special woman who touched the lives of many children and adults. I first met her when we were both counselors at USD 259. She will be missed.
Rest in peace my dear friend! You were always a joy to be around. You never met a stranger! My prayers go out to your friends and family! 🙏❤️
Bob and family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Rhonda was a wonderful person and I will miss her very, very much. Heaven gained a special angel.
Dear Family, I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Rhondalyn’s passing. As you know, Rhonda had a heart of gold and one of the most giving woman I have ever known. When I was struggling with health issues, Rhondalyn stepped in and substituted for me at Dodge. I knew the kiddos were in good hands so I could focus on my recovery. I am so very sorry for your loss. Cindy Green
So sorry to hear of Rhondalyn’s passing. I played with her as a child when the family came to visit the grandparents in Missouri. Her mother, Candace, and my mother, Marilyn, were friends.
I am very sorry for your loss. We lived across the street in Concordia, and I remember how dynamic Rhonda was as an actor in high school, and how good she was at forensics. I am sure she will be very missed. Matt Anderson
As a high school classmate of mine, memories of a spirited, energetic, kind, and adventurous young Rhonda come to mind. In recent years we had re-connected through class reunions and the aging and death of Gus, Candy, and my own mother. I will remember Rhonda’s tender heart, her sensitive, genuine, and big personality, but mostly, I will remember how she loved life and others with such incredible passion. This world is a bit more dim without her. Shelly Farha Concordia, Kansas
You class is epic, Shelly. I feel for all of you in the loss of this indefatigable, inimitable and beloved classmate.
I was so sorry to see that you lost your wife Bob.
Its been years, you might not even remember us….
Sincerely,
Cory Paustian and Linda Dionn e Gatton
