  1. As a former student of John (Mr. Ranney), I’m devastated to find out about his passing. Mr. Ranney, as I knew him, was one of my role models. As a child, stepping into his classroom felt like a dream. This room was radiating with creativity and art in a way that could only give insight towards Johns passion. Mr. Ranney will forever live on in my mind as a key figure in my development, I will never forget the feeling of looking around his classroom as if it were an art museum. I will also never forget “BIG. BOLD. & STRONG.” a phrase that he repeated in his class, encouraging and teaching students how to create better artwork. Now being 23, and working as a graphic designer, I look back and I miss the classroom that started it all, and the man that created that environment for growth and potential. Thank you Mr. Ranney, Thank you for everything.
