Oklahoma City, Oklahoma ~ 83, died Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am, Monday, March 29, 2021, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Elizabeth Emmerich; sister, Mary Compton; brothers, Albert and Paul Emmerich. Survived by his wife, Jeannie Emmerich of Oklahoma City, OK; daughters, Debbie (John) Hopkins of Fountain Hills, AZ, Laurie (Louis) Tenbrink of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Megan (Brian) Barrett of Norman, OK, Katelyn Tenbrink of Oklahoma City, OK; numerous niece and nephews. It was our 1st year of married life and our first “cold-Winter-night”. Debbie and I both woke up sometime early-early morning – freezing. We were so cold, but we had gas heat in the house and we had never lite a pilot-light before … we called David and he “tried” to walk us thru the lighting process, but we were both too scared to light the actual gas. We did try, try, and try … David ended up having to drive across town (West>East), spend 15 seconds to light the gas and return home on that cold Winter morning. I know it was not his best day at work the next day, but he forever in our hearts made us both feel truly … “Safe & Warm” … Our Hero, John & Debbie Hopkins
