Donald C. Lemen, Jr., 71, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 surrounded and comforted by his family. Don was a color guard commander and member of the Washington Chapter of the Kansas Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a member of the Wichita Scottish Rite 32nd degree. He was a member of Harley Owners Group and has enjoyed many rallies and rides on his motorcycle with his wife, son and friends. Other interests were genealogy research, walking for exercise and working in his yard. Don’s 40 year career has been in the paper making industry. He began working at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) in Hutchinson in 1968. In 1988, he chose to work for Tampella-Sandy Hill in New York for experience in optical alignment. After 5 years he returned to PCA (Republic Paperboard/Sonoco) as Maintenance Manager. Over the years he had worked for JCI, ICM and Cargill. Since 2008 he’s been with the City of Maize, maintenance evolving to GIS technician. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Donald C Lemen Sr, sisters Kathy Hargett and Debbra Bowen. Survivors: wife of 50 years, Deanna “Dee”; daughter, Tresa Lemen; son, Donald (Kelsey) C Lemen III; brother, Dennis (Deborah) Lemen; grandchild, Alicia Lemen and numerous extended family. Visitation, 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Friday, April 9; funeral service, 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 10, both at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Burial at Maize Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Sons of the American Revolution Genealogical Research Library, 809 W Main, Louisville, KY 40202 and Shriners Hospital for Children, 4400 Clayton Ave, St. Louis, MO 63110.
