Donald S. Aguilar Downing. January 20, 1948 - April 24, 2021. Donald S. “Don” Aguilar, 73, passed away surrounded by his family on April 24, 2021. He was born in Managua, Nicaragua, and raised in San Francisco, CA from the age of 8. Don worked at Beech Aircraft for 36 years. He served in the US Army, serving in Vietnam and other military bases. Preceded in death by his parents, Gustavo Aguilar Cortes and Carlota Aguilar Downing. Survived by his siblings, Martha (Frank) Fair, Jim (Beth) Aguilar of Manteca, CA, Gustavo Aguilar of Tucson, AZ, Grace Velarde of San Francisco, CA; nieces, Heather (William) Gibbs, Evie (Ken) Knoke, Debbie (Chris) Buckley, Laura Velarde, Nancy Gonzalez; nephew, Jose Garcia; and many other nephews and cousins. Rosary will be at 10:30 am; Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 29, 2021, both at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2701 S. Pattie, Wichita, KS. A private burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with St. Margaret Mary Catholic School, 2635 S. Pattie, Wichita, KS 67216; The Lord’s Diner, 520 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67202.
