Daniel J. Fisher, 94, entered eternal life on June 5, 2021. Rosary will be at 7:30 pm, Wednesday, June 9, 2021; Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 10, 2021, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Born in Garden Plain, KS, graduating from Garden Plain High School, lettering in football, baseball, and basketball and was class Valedictorian. Daniel served proudly in the Army in World War II. After returning from the war, he attended Wichita University playing on the baseball team. He went to work for Phoenix of Hartford Group as a commercial lines underwriter and claims manager. He became a commercial lines underwriter and a field representative for Continental Insurance Co. where he worked for 24 years. One year after retirement from Continental he went to work part time for Cimmaron Insurance Co. and later full time as a territory manager. Dan married Myrtle C. Konecny on June 7, 1952 and together they lovingly raised 4 children. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and loved playing on their baseball team. He volunteered as a little league coach at Blessed Sacrament Church, was a member of the "Field Club," and co-managed the St. Thomas Senior Club. Daniel loved dancing with friends, exercising, watching his favorite sports teams, playing slots at the casinos, traveling abroad with Myrtle, and following the stock market. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and will be dearly missed. Survived by children, Gery (Jacque) Fisher, Sharon (Mark) Schroeder, Dennis Fisher, Janice Fisher; siblings, Joan Stuhlsatz, Patty Renner; grandchildren, Preston (Lauren) Schroeder, Jennifer (Michael) Lauritzen, Harrison (Jessica) Schroeder, Julie (Thad) Jones, Joseph (Kari) Fisher, Jeremiah Fisher; 10 great-grandchildren. Memorials have been established with Guadalupe Clinic, 940 S. St. Francis, Wichita, KS 67211; or The Lord’s Diner, 520 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67214. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
