John E. Polson

July 31, 1947 ~ October 19, 2021
John was born to Rodney and Emma (Kish) Polson in Wichita, Kansas. John attended Holy Savior Academy and graduated from Chaplain Kapaun Memorial High School in 1965. He stayed in contact with many of his classmates and other friends who have supported him during some difficult times. He was extremely appreciative of the Jesuit education he received while at Kapaun. He was an avid sports fan who often called local media sports shows to offer his opinion on sporting events. He loved Kapaun, WSU, and especially his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. He was also active in politics both on the local and national scene.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on November 12 at 9:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wichita.
As he always said; He was an acquired taste, I loved him as he was, and tried to reunite him with his daughter for whom he fought diligently to know, rest well John.
John came to and later called my bookstore many times to find books and videos that he wanted. We were both interested in local history and politics. I was proud of his work to get the Piatt Park plane crash memorial installation. Rest In Peace John. I will miss you, an acquired taste indeed.
Many of us who could not find John during the last few months of his life are grateful to the members of Blessed Sacrament church, which John had faithfully attended for years, who took him through to the end. John was a good and loyal friend and an entertaining companion. He was an important activist in the Democratic party and found and encouraged candidates to run for office.
