Michael "Mick" Newman

Michael Gerrard Newman came into this world on Sunday December 14, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the son of Patrick and Elizabeth Newman. Michael was one of 5 children. He is survived by his sisters, Cathy and Martha “Mimi.” Mary Martha passed shortly after her birth. His parents and John passed away some years ago. Michael was the youngest of the children. Michael spent his early years in Kansas City, Missouri until the family moved to Prairie Village when he was 10 years old. He also lived in Lenexa, Kansas until the early 1990’s when he moved to Wichita, Kansas. Michael “Mick” was married to Kim and had a child Shelby during their union. Shelby is now married to Joshua Parker and has a little girl, Rylie. Mick has spent the last 14 years with his best friend and companion, Dao Nguyen. Dao has 2 children, Clinton and Carol. They live on a small acreage with her parents. He traveled often between Wichita and Emporia to take care of numerous rental properties. He was gifted in being able to do most of the work taking care of the properties himself. Mick loved camping and going to the lake whenever he got the chance. Dao and Mick also went on numerous cruises and traveled many times with their 3 children. He was winding down his career as a landlord and planned to retire in Emporia with Dao. On the morning of January 3, 2022 at the young age of 63 Mick was called home to the Lord. He will be missed by many people he helped throughout the years. Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 15, 2022, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
