Robert “Bob” Joseph Drechsler, died Saturday, June 4, 2022. Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Hillside Christian Church in Wichita KS. Bob was born on November 28, 1938 in Cleo Springs, OK to August and Gladys Drechsler. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Oklahoma State University. Following his graduation, he served in the United States Army. Bob enjoyed a rich career in the aviation industry, employed by Cessna for 23 years, 15 of which as the Citation Service Center Manager. He also worked at Falcon Jet, Raytheon, and Aero Mach Labs. He was also happy to serve on the Kansas Aviation Museum Board and assist in the “Doc” bomber restoration. After retiring, he enjoyed consulting for his son’s construction company and flipping houses. Bob was a member of Hillside Christian Church in Wichita, KS where he served in many capacities including Chairman of the Board, Elder of the church, Sunday School teacher, and mentor for young adults. Bob was a voracious reader who was always educating himself on the issues of the day. He also enjoyed golfing with friends, especially their annual golf trip, playing poker and cards, and spending time with his grandchildren. He and Iretta loved to travel and explore new cultures and environments. In addition, he was an animal lover who liked to garden, camp, and fish. He provided unconditional love and support for his friends and family. He was a source of wisdom, integrity, and grace; a man who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Don Drechsler of Altus, OK; 2 sisters, Ellen Wilson of Pond Creek, OK, Nellie Mena of Enid, OK; and son, Jeff of Wichita, KS. Bob is survived by his wife, Iretta Rose of Clinton, OK who he married in Little Rock, AR in 1992; son, Greg (Cindy) Drechsler of El Dorado; daughter, Nicole Drechsler Mikelonis of Houston; grandchildren, Amanda (Rudy), Rob (Sarah), Jared, Jacob, and Jesse Drechsler, Hannah, Brooke, and Morgan Mikelonis; great-grandson, Decker; brother, Gene Drechsler of Altus, OK. He is also survived by 2 step-sons, Roger Rose (Debbie) of Edmond, OK, Douglas Rose (Sonia) of Clinton, OK; and 2 step-grandchildren, Tyler Rose of Clinton, OK, and Kelsi Biggs (Blake) of Edmond, OK. Memorials have been established with: Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67219; Meals On Wheels c/o Senior Services of Wichita, 200 S. Walnut, Wichita, KS 67213; Hillside Christian Church, 8330 E. Douglas Ave., Wichita, KS 67206. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
